Cookie policy
Last updated August 2, 2026Two cookies, and nothing hidden
No advertising cookies, no third party pixels, and no cross site tracking. Here is the entire list.
This is a short page because we use very few cookies. That is deliberate.
What we set
| Cookie | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|
| Session | Keeps the site working while you move between pages. It holds no personal information. | When you close the browser |
| Admin session | Only set if you are a member of our editorial team signing in to publish. It is never set for readers. | 7 days |
What we do not set
- No advertising cookies.
- No third party marketing pixels. No Meta pixel, no ad network tags.
- No cross site tracking of any kind.
- No cookie that follows you to another website.
Why there is no cookie banner
Because we do not set anything that requires consent. The cookies above are strictly necessary to make the site function, which is the one category that does not need you to click a button. We think consent banners for non essential tracking are a fair rule and the better answer is to not do the tracking.
Analytics
We measure which pages are read using an analytics tool that does not use cookies and does not fingerprint your device. We can see that a page was read. We cannot see that you read it.
When you click through to a vendor
Affiliate links carry a tag identifying us as the referrer so we get credited if you buy. Once you land on the vendor's site you are subject to their cookie policy, not ours, and most of them set considerably more than we do. That is outside our control and worth knowing.
Turning cookies off
Every browser lets you block or delete cookies. Since ours are strictly necessary, blocking them may break parts of the site, but nothing you do here will stop us tracking you, because we were not tracking you.
