Overview

What is Acumatica?

Acumatica's defining decision is that it does not charge per user. Licensing is based on the computing resources you consume and the applications you switch on, which means the warehouse supervisor, the shop floor lead and the part time bookkeeper can all have logins without a budget conversation. For an organization where far more people need to see ERP data than transact in it, that changes the economics completely.

Where it wins

Distribution, manufacturing, construction and field service are its strongest editions, and they are genuine editions rather than a checkbox. Construction gets AIA billing, retainage and job costing. Manufacturing gets bills of material, production orders and material requirements planning. Distribution gets landed cost and multi warehouse allocation.

The platform is modern in ways older mid market ERPs are not. A real REST API, a proper mobile experience, and a customization framework that survives upgrades rather than trapping you two versions behind, which is the failure mode that strands so many ERP customers.

Pricing is quoted, and it is not per seat

Acumatica publishes no list price. Cost is driven by transaction volume, the applications you licence and your deployment choice, and it is quoted by a partner. Independent estimates put small deployments in the region of several thousand dollars a year before implementation, with implementation itself typically a five figure project, but those are third party figures rather than Acumatica's.

Unlimited users is the headline and consumption is the meter, so a business with high transaction volume and few users can find the model works against it. Model your own volumes before assuming it is cheaper.

Where it frustrates people

The partner relationship is the whole experience, exactly as it is with Sage and Dynamics. Acumatica does not implement its own product, and outcomes vary enormously with who you pick.

The install base is smaller than NetSuite or Dynamics, so finding staff who already know it is harder and the third party add on ecosystem is thinner. Reporting is powerful and takes real learning, and most customers end up with someone internal who owns it.

Support goes through the partner and slows down

The subscription is reasonable and the implementation was a five figure project that ran two months long. That is normal for ERP and it was still the number that hurt. Budget the project properly or do not start, because the licence is not the cost.

Field techs work offline and sync later

The Construction edition handles AIA G702 and G703 progress billing, retainage on both sides and job costing properly. We evaluated three products that claimed construction support and only this one did it without a bolt on.

Our customizations survived the upgrade

Our field service techs work in areas with no signal. The mobile app holds work offline and syncs when they are back, which was a hard requirement that eliminated two other vendors.

FAQ

We have the answers

Pricing

How much does Acumatica cost?

Acumatica does not publish a price. Every plan is quoted, and deals in this bracket typically land in the higher end of the market once implementation is included. Ask for a quote against your own headcount rather than a list price.

Integrations

What does Acumatica integrate with?

Acumatica connects with Avalara, Shopify, BigCommerce, Microsoft 365 and 3 more. Confirm the specific integration you depend on with a trial account before you commit, since depth varies more than a logo wall suggests.

Local fit

Does Acumatica work for businesses in the US and Canada?

Acumatica serves businesses in both the United States and Canada, and nothing about it is country specific in the way accounting or payroll tools are. Pricing is listed in US dollars, which is the vendor's real list price on both sides of the border.

Reviews

What do users say about Acumatica?

Acumatica holds 4.1 out of 5 across 228 verified reviews, and it scores highest on functionality. The rating is computed from those reviews and cannot be edited by the vendor. Read the full archive to see the pattern behind the number.
