One price and every feature is in it

We run an agricultural operation and Form 943 is not something most payroll products handle. OnPay does it properly, alongside our regular staff on 941. Finding one system for both was why we chose them and it has worked for three years.

Pros

Support staffed by people who know payroll

Cons

HR features are adequate rather than a reason to buy

Ease of use
Value for money
Customer service

I called about a multi state withholding question and got someone who understood reciprocity agreements without me explaining what they were. That is a very different conversation from being read a knowledge base article by someone following a flowchart.

Support knows payroll, not a script

We have staff in four states and there is no per state surcharge. Our previous provider charged for each one, which for a small distributed team was a real and irritating cost.

Tip credit handling that is actually right

The single plan is the whole reason I am here. Forty nine plus six a head and everything is included. I have never once been told a feature I need sits on a higher tier, which is the entire experience of every other payroll product I have used.

Pros

Migration and setup handled by OnPay at no charge

Three years, no missed filing, no penalty notice, and the price is within a few dollars of where it started. There is nothing else I want to say about a payroll provider.

Benefits administration is basic

Registering us in a new state took about three weeks and I was told ten days. It got done and the communication in the middle was poor, with two emails unanswered. For everything else they have been excellent, which made that stretch more surprising.

Response from the vendorApr 30, 2026

Thank you for the review and we are sorry the state registration took longer than we indicated. Turnaround varies by agency and our communication should have been better regardless. Please reach out if there is anything still outstanding.

Payroll takes four minutes now

We switched in August with filings already in flight and OnPay moved all of it. Prior wages, tax deposits, the lot. I did almost nothing and nothing was missed. A mid year payroll migration is exactly where things go wrong and it did not.

We are a restaurant and tip credit calculations are where our old provider quietly got things wrong for two quarters. OnPay handles tips, tip credit and the reporting correctly and I have checked it hard.

Reporting is thinner than the big providers

Benefits administration exists and is basic. Carrier feeds are limited compared with a full service provider, and we still do more manual work at open enrollment than I would like.
