Overview

What is Paycom?

Paycom is a genuine single database HCM platform, which is rarer than the marketing in this category suggests. Payroll, benefits, time, talent acquisition and performance all read and write the same employee record, so there is no nightly sync between modules and no reconciliation between two versions of the same person.

The technical case

For an employer of several hundred people across multiple states, that architecture is worth real money. Multi state withholding, complex time rules, garnishments and benefits deductions all resolve against one record. Reporting spans the whole employee lifecycle without exporting to a warehouse first.

Beti, their employee driven payroll model, has the employee review and approve their own paycheck before the run closes. It genuinely reduces post payroll corrections, and it also shifts work onto employees, which some workforces accept and others resent. Both reactions show up in reviews.

Pricing is not published

Paycom quotes every deal through a sales conversation and publishes nothing. Independent analysis puts the full platform in the region of 25 to 36 dollars per employee per month with a one time implementation fee typically running 15 to 35 percent of the annual subscription, but those are third party estimates and not a Paycom number. We list custom pricing because that is the truth of it.

The practical consequence is that two similar employers can pay materially different rates, and your rate depends on how the negotiation went. Reviewers who benchmarked before signing consistently report better outcomes than those who did not.

Where it frustrates people

The sales process draws more criticism than the software. Persistent outreach, pressure to close, and a gap between what was demonstrated and what arrived are recurring themes. So is the service model: the assigned representative changes, and the quality of your experience tracks that person more than the platform.

Implementation is a real project with real internal work, and companies that treated it as a vendor task rather than a staffed programme are the ones describing overruns.

Multi state withholding it gets right

Everything reads and writes the same employee record. No nightly sync, no reconciliation between the HR system and the payroll system, no arguing about which one is right. For eleven hundred people across nine states that architecture is worth real money and it is genuinely rare.

Reporting across the whole employee lifecycle

Beti puts the paycheck in front of the employee before the run closes and asks them to check it. Our post payroll corrections went from a couple of dozen a cycle to almost none, because the person who knows their hours are wrong is the person now looking at them.

It replaced four systems and two integrations

Multi state withholding including reciprocity is handled correctly. I watched a previous system get Illinois and Iowa wrong for two quarters and it cost us in amended returns. This has not been wrong once in four years.

FAQ

We have the answers

Pricing

How much does Paycom cost?

Paycom does not publish a price. Every plan is quoted, and deals in this bracket typically land in the higher end of the market once implementation is included. Ask for a quote against your own headcount rather than a list price.

Integrations

What does Paycom integrate with?

Paycom connects with QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and 1 more. Confirm the specific integration you depend on with a trial account before you commit, since depth varies more than a logo wall suggests.

Local fit

Does Paycom work for businesses in the US and Canada?

Paycom serves businesses in both the United States and Canada, and nothing about it is country specific in the way accounting or payroll tools are. Pricing is listed in US dollars, which is the vendor's real list price on both sides of the border.

Reviews

What do users say about Paycom?

Paycom holds 3.5 out of 5 across 287 verified reviews, and it scores highest on functionality. The rating is computed from those reviews and cannot be edited by the vendor. Read the full archive to see the pattern behind the number.
