Overview

What is NetSuite?

NetSuite is a genuine ERP and has been cloud native since before that was a category. Companies arrive here when spreadsheets and a small business ledger have stopped holding the business together.

What it does well

Everything is one system. Finance, inventory, order management, procurement, projects and revenue recognition share a database, so the order a rep enters is the same record the warehouse picks and finance recognizes. At a few hundred people, that single fact removes a department's worth of reconciliation.

Multi subsidiary and multi currency consolidation is genuinely strong. Running US and Canadian entities with intercompany transactions is a solved problem here, and few products in this catalogue can say that.

Tax and filing

SuiteTax handles US sales tax and Canadian GST and HST, generally alongside Avalara at any real volume. Like every ERP, it produces the numbers and your tax team files them. It does not press a button at IRS or CRA.

Where it frustrates people

Cost is the headline and the reviews are unanimous. Licensing runs well into five figures annually before implementation, and implementation is a six figure project measured in quarters. Annual renewal increases are a consistent complaint, and negotiating leverage drops once you are live, which everyone learns the hard way.

The interface is dated. Customization requires SuiteScript developers. This is infrastructure, and it should be bought like infrastructure: slowly, with references called.

It works, and it costs what it costs

The capability is real and so is the price. Five figures a year in licensing before a six figure implementation measured in quarters. If you are the right size, it is worth it. If you are not, it will hurt.

Pros

Multi subsidiary consolidation with currency translation is genuinely automatic.

Cons

The interface is dated and needs training.

Buy it slowly

The capability is real and so is the price. Five figures a year in licensing before a six figure implementation measured in quarters. If you are the right size, it is worth it. If you are not, it will hurt.

Pros

It scales from roughly 80 people to well past 500 without a replatform.

Cons

Renewal increases are a consistent complaint and leverage disappears once live.

It carried us from 80 to 400 people

We grew from 80 to 400 people on it and never hit a wall. Expensive, dated, and it did not break. For infrastructure that is what matters.

Pros

Cloud native since long before that was a category, so uptime is not a worry.

Cons

It is far too much system below roughly 80 people.

FAQ

We have the answers

Pricing

How much does NetSuite cost?

NetSuite does not publish a price. Every plan is quoted, and deals in this bracket typically land in the higher end of the market once implementation is included. Ask for a quote against your own headcount rather than a list price.

Integrations

What does NetSuite integrate with?

NetSuite connects with Salesforce, Avalara, ADP, Rippling and 2 more. Confirm the specific integration you depend on with a trial account before you commit, since depth varies more than a logo wall suggests.

Local fit

Does NetSuite work for businesses in the US and Canada?

NetSuite serves businesses in both the United States and Canada, and nothing about it is country specific in the way accounting or payroll tools are. Pricing is listed in US dollars, which is the vendor's real list price on both sides of the border.

Reviews

What do users say about NetSuite?

NetSuite holds 3.9 out of 5 across 58 verified reviews, and it scores highest on functionality. The rating is computed from those reviews and cannot be edited by the vendor. Read the full archive to see the pattern behind the number.
