Coming from QuickBooks class tracking, this is a different category of tool. The first time I built a report by program across both entities without exporting anything, I understood what we had paid for.

The reporting our board actually wanted
The dimensional ledger is the reason to buy this. We tag by department, location and program and report across any combination without touching the chart of accounts. Our monthly close went from eleven days to four, and most of what we cut was spreadsheet work.
Overkill below roughly 50 employees or a single entity.

We run a US entity and a Canadian entity with intercompany transactions. Consolidation and currency translation happen without a human. That was a week of work every month before, and now it is not.
Pros
Approval workflows and the audit trail satisfy a real auditor.
Cons
The interface is dated next to newer cloud accounting tools.

Powerful, dated, expensive
Implementation through a partner took four months and cost about as much as the first year of licensing. That is normal for this bracket, but nobody says it out loud during the sales process, so I will.

Right tool, real project
The capability is not in question. The interface looks like it was designed a decade ago and the learning curve is steep enough that we trained everyone formally. Worth it for us, but go in expecting that.
