Bonus depreciation handled without me reading the code
Section 179 limits and bonus depreciation change constantly and I no longer track it. Sage updates the tax content and the calculation is simply correct. That is worth the maintenance fee on its own.

Our auditor stopped asking questions
We ran depreciation in Excel for nine years and I always half suspected it was wrong. It was. The first reconciliation after we moved found errors going back four years. This product paid for itself in the first month just by being right.

Correct and ugly, in that order
The reporting is comprehensive but the report writer is from another era. We export to Excel for anything that needs to look presentable, which slightly defeats the purpose.

The mid quarter convention is the kind of thing that catches people out and it just handles it. I did not even know we had tripped it until the software told me.

Separate books for GAAP and tax from one asset record is the entire reason to buy this. Before, we kept two schedules and they disagreed by a few thousand dollars every single year and nobody could say why.

Excellent engine, awful front end
Getting a price meant a call with a reseller and then a follow up and then a quote. For a product this established I do not understand why the number is a secret. It made a simple decision take three weeks.

Form 4562 prints in the format the IRS wants and our accountant does not touch it. That used to be a two day exercise at year end.
