We failed at two CRM rollouts before this. Both died the same way, which is that nobody entered data. Copper is inside Gmail, so logging an email is not a task, it has already happened. Adoption was immediate and it has stayed that way for three years.

Well suited to relationship led sales rather than high volume
Cons

Perfect for a relationship led agency
We are a twelve person design agency and our pipeline is thirty real relationships, not three thousand leads. Copper fits that shape exactly. Products built for high volume outbound would drown us in fields we do not need.
Pros
Contacts and activity capture themselves from email and calendar
Cons
Marketing automation is effectively absent

Contacts appear without anyone adding them
My team lives in Gmail and Calendar all day. Putting the CRM in the sidebar rather than in another tab is a small sounding decision that turned out to be the whole product. Nobody has to remember anything.

Calendar and Drive integration that is native rather than a connector

Outlook support is clearly second class

Administration runs through Google Workspace rather than a separate user directory. When someone leaves, removing their Google account handles it. That is one less system for me to remember.

Pointless if you are not on Google Workspace
Renewal came in noticeably higher and I could not point to anything meaningful that had shipped that year. When I asked, the answer was general platform investment. We stayed because moving is painful and I am watching it.

Marketing automation is basically absent. We run Mailchimp alongside it, which is fine and is a second bill and a second list to keep clean.

It suggests contacts from people I am already emailing, so the database builds itself. I came from a system where a rep had to create a contact record manually, and about half of them never did.
