Consolidation across our entities is solved

The order a rep enters is the record the warehouse picks and finance recognizes. One system, one truth. At our size that removed roughly a department's worth of reconciliation work, which is how the license gets justified.

Pros

Revenue recognition handles subscription and contract businesses properly.

Cons

It is far too much system below roughly 80 people.

Everything is one system, and that is the point

We run US and Canadian subsidiaries with intercompany transactions and multi currency. NetSuite consolidates it without a human touching a spreadsheet. Almost nothing else in this catalogue can honestly say that.

Pros

It scales from roughly 80 people to well past 500 without a replatform.

Cons

The interface is dated and needs training.

Buy it slowly

The interface is dated and customization needs SuiteScript developers. Neither is a surprise for an ERP of this age, but budget for the people, not just the software.

Renewal increases with no leverage

Once you are live you cannot leave, and the renewal quote reflects that. Ours went up double digits with no new functionality and no real negotiation available. Everyone learns this the same way. Negotiate multi year terms up front, because year one is the only time you have leverage.

Pros

Revenue recognition handles subscription and contract businesses properly.

Cons

Licensing runs into five figures a year before implementation.

It works, and it costs what it costs

The capability is real and so is the price. Five figures a year in licensing before a six figure implementation measured in quarters. If you are the right size, it is worth it. If you are not, it will hurt.

Multi subsidiary consolidation with currency translation is genuinely automatic.

Cons

Renewal increases are a consistent complaint and leverage disappears once live.

We grew from 80 to 400 people on it and never hit a wall. Expensive, dated, and it did not break. For infrastructure that is what matters.
