They migrated us mid year without drama

Payroll is about four minutes every other Friday. I am not a payroll person and I do not need to be, and the federal and state filings happen without me knowing they happened.

Pros

Unlimited pay runs and included W-2 and 1099 filing

Cons

HR features are adequate rather than a reason to buy

Ease of use
Value for money
Customer service

Support knows payroll, not a script

We have staff in four states and there is no per state surcharge. Our previous provider charged for each one, which for a small distributed team was a real and irritating cost.

Tip credit handling that is actually right

I called about a multi state withholding question and got someone who understood reciprocity agreements without me explaining what they were. That is a very different conversation from being read a knowledge base article by someone following a flowchart.

Our farm payroll finally files correctly

We switched in August with filings already in flight and OnPay moved all of it. Prior wages, tax deposits, the lot. I did almost nothing and nothing was missed. A mid year payroll migration is exactly where things go wrong and it did not.

One price and every feature is in it

We run an agricultural operation and Form 943 is not something most payroll products handle. OnPay does it properly, alongside our regular staff on 941. Finding one system for both was why we chose them and it has worked for three years.

We are a restaurant and tip credit calculations are where our old provider quietly got things wrong for two quarters. OnPay handles tips, tip credit and the reporting correctly and I have checked it hard.

The single plan is the whole reason I am here. Forty nine plus six a head and everything is included. I have never once been told a feature I need sits on a higher tier, which is the entire experience of every other payroll product I have used.

Three years, no missed filing, no penalty notice, and the price is within a few dollars of where it started. There is nothing else I want to say about a payroll provider.

The interface is functional rather than modern

The HR side covers documents, onboarding and org charts adequately. It is not a reason to buy and it is not embarrassing either. We pair it with BambooHR and the two do not fight.
