Our partner knew manufacturing properly
Our implementation partner had done four companies in our industry and it showed. They pushed back on things we asked for that would have hurt us later. That relationship, not the software, is why this went well.

Essentials is eighty dollars per user per month now, up from where it sat for years. Anyone budgeting off an older number or an old blog post will be short, and at thirty users that difference is not trivial.

We appreciate you sharing this. Release readiness is something we want to make easier and your input is useful. Your partner or account team can discuss preview environments that may reduce your testing burden.

Quote to order to shipment to invoice to cash is one flow in one system. We were running the quote in a CRM, the order in a spreadsheet and the invoice in accounting, and reconciling all three.

Your partner determines the outcome
Microsoft does not implement this and the variance between partners is enormous. Same software, two companies I know well, one is delighted and one spent eighteen months and rebuilt. Ask for references in your industry and actually call them, because you are buying a partner as much as a product.

Our finance team lives in Excel and always will. Business Central lets them pull a ledger into Excel, edit it and publish it back. Not an export, actual two way editing. That single capability ended a fight I had been having with my controller for six years.
When something breaks, Microsoft routes you to your partner and the partner bills you. For an issue that turned out to be a platform bug, I paid consultancy hours to have it diagnosed and reported. That model is hard to accept.

Excel editing that writes back to the ledger
Our implementation partner had done four companies in our industry and it showed. They pushed back on things we asked for that would have hurt us later. That relationship, not the software, is why this went well.
Our first partner configured the inventory setup wrong, then put a junior on the project, then went quiet. We paid a second firm to redo most of it. Fourteen months and roughly double the budget. The software was never the problem and nobody warns you how much rides on the channel.
Pros
Approvals inside Teams where staff already work
Cons
The outcome depends almost entirely on your implementation partner
