Dependencies our old tracker never had
Real dependencies with a critical path, which our old tracker faked with a colour. When a foundation pour slips three days I can see everything downstream move rather than guessing.

Cross sheet reporting and portfolio rollups at real scale
Cons

Add ons are where the budget goes
Resource Management, Dynamic View and Data Shuttle are separately priced and several of them are things I assumed were included. Our real annual cost is meaningfully above the per member number. Ask exactly what is in your plan.

We appreciate the note about mobile. Field data capture is important to many of our customers and your input helps us prioritise. Our team would welcome a conversation about your use case.

Free contributors changed the economics
Intake used to be email. Now it is a form with conditional logic that lands in the right sheet, notifies the right owner and starts the approval. That removed a coordination job that a person used to do badly.

Two hundred project sheets into one view
We had a master tracker in Excel that was too important to be in Excel. Version conflicts, someone's local copy, formulas broken by a paste. Moving it here kept the shape our team knew and added permissions, history and automation behind it.

Forms feed the sheet and route themselves
Contributors are free and unlimited, so our twenty two licensed builders serve about four hundred people who view, comment and submit forms. Every per seat competitor quoted us four hundred seats. That single licensing decision made the business case.

Performance drags on very large sheets
The mobile app is close to unusable for anything except approving something simple. Our site supervisors wanted to update progress from their phones and gave up. In construction that is exactly where the data should be entered.

Thank you for the detailed feedback. Performance on very large sheets is an active area of engineering investment and we would like to look at your specific structure. Please contact support and reference this review.

Powerful, and not beautiful
Give it to a team without conventions and in a year you have sheets with fifty columns that only their author understands. That is what flexibility costs and the product does very little to stop it. We wrote a standards document in year two and should have done it in month two.

The spreadsheet we could not kill, made safe
We ran a rollout across four hundred and twelve retail sites off this. Status per site, dependencies, automated nudges when a milestone slipped. I do not know what else we would have used at that scale.

Our site supervisors understood it immediately
Our project managers are construction people who have used a spreadsheet for twenty years. Every modern project tool we trialled asked them to think differently and they refused. Smartsheet looks like what they already know, so adoption took about a day and then it just spread.
