It runs both our US and Canadian payroll

We have staff in Vancouver and Seattle and Rippling runs both payrolls on one platform. T4s and ROEs on one side, Form 941 and W-2s on the other, one login. Almost nothing else in this category does that and it is the reason we chose it.

Pros

Workflow automation is configurable without an implementation consultant.

Cons

It is more system than a ten person company needs.

Offboarding closed a real security hole

New hire, one form, and their payroll, health plan, Google account, Slack and laptop are all set up before they start. We used to have a twelve step checklist across four systems and we still missed things. Now there is no checklist.

Pros

Runs both US and Canadian payroll on one platform, including T4 and ROE.

Cons

Costs scale quickly once you turn on benefits and IT modules together.

Offboarding closed a real security hole

The workflow automation is the part that surprised me. We wired up our own approval rules without an implementation consultant, which I did not expect from a product this broad.

Pros

Onboarding provisions everything from a single form.

Costs scale quickly once you turn on benefits and IT modules together.

It runs both our US and Canadian payroll

Offboarding is the underrated half. One click and every account is revoked. Before this we had people who left eight months ago still holding a Dropbox login and nobody knew. That is a real risk and it is now closed.

Pros

Workflow automation is configurable without an implementation consultant.

Cons

Getting a real quote requires a sales call per module.

Every question routes through a sales call

You cannot get a straight price. Every module needs a conversation and every conversation is a sales call. I spent three weeks getting a number I could take to my board. The product is good, the buying process wasted a month of my time.

Onboarding provisions everything from a single form.

It is more system than a ten person company needs.
