Offboarding is the underrated half. One click and every account is revoked. Before this we had people who left eight months ago still holding a Dropbox login and nobody knew. That is a real risk and it is now closed.
Pros
Offboarding revokes every account at once, which closes a real security gap.
Cons
Device management only pays off if you actually issue hardware.

Offboarding closed a real security hole
We have staff in Vancouver and Seattle and Rippling runs both payrolls on one platform. T4s and ROEs on one side, Form 941 and W-2s on the other, one login. Almost nothing else in this category does that and it is the reason we chose it.
Pros
Offboarding revokes every account at once, which closes a real security gap.
Cons
Modular pricing means the advertised entry price covers very little.

The workflow automation is the part that surprised me. We wired up our own approval rules without an implementation consultant, which I did not expect from a product this broad.

Every question routes through a sales call
You cannot get a straight price. Every module needs a conversation and every conversation is a sales call. I spent three weeks getting a number I could take to my board. The product is good, the buying process wasted a month of my time.
Pros
Global contractor payments and employer of record are available.
Cons
Costs scale quickly once you turn on benefits and IT modules together.

It runs both our US and Canadian payroll
New hire, one form, and their payroll, health plan, Google account, Slack and laptop are all set up before they start. We used to have a twelve step checklist across four systems and we still missed things. Now there is no checklist.

Brilliant, and more than we needed
The advertised eight dollars covers the employee record and very little else. A realistic configuration with payroll, benefits and device management is several times that. Not dishonest exactly, but the entry price is not a useful signal.

The modules are where the money goes
We bought this at twelve people and it is more system than we needed for at least two years. It is excellent now that we are 45, but we paid for capability we could not use. Buy it when you have the problem it solves.
